Mr. Smalligan was chosen by the directors of Cornerstone University, a Christian liberal arts university in Grand Rapids, Michigan to carve a mace. This is a four and one half foot long ceremonial staff, intricately carved with symbolic figures and symbols. The mace took Mr. Smalligan about 54 hours to carve from Honduran mahagony and was completed in the summer of 2005.
